AUBURN – Jack H. Simon, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at his home in Auburn with his family and caretakers by his side.

He was born in Chicago, where he lived with Hilda Simon, his wife of 41 years. He worked as a printer at the Chicago Sun-Times for 34 years.

Five years after the death of Hilda, he moved to Auburn (1987) to marry Shirley Isaacson, who survives him. He was an avid photographer and an enthusiastic volunteer for the Jewish War Veterans. He was a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue and Temple Shalom in Auburn, and previously, Bhai Emunah, in Skokie, Ill.

He is survived by two children, Noreen Lekas (husband Gerry), of Glenview, Ill. and Mark Simon (wife Renee), of Orange, Calif.; four stepchildren, Margie Goldberg (husband Gary), James Isaacson (wife Kristen Lape), Thomas Isaacson (wife Emily Woodbury) and Donald Isaacson (partner Rocky DeRocher); 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of whom he adored.

The family extends a very special thanks to the wonderful caretakers, Linda Lenz, Jeannie Tremblett, Marion Hicks, Debbie Roy and Jennie Troscianiec.
