LEWISTON – “Understanding Social Security Benefits for People Living with Cancer” will be the topic of a Cancer Wellness and Support Group presentation set for Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Lourdes Rubio, a Social Security Administration claims representative, will present an overview of the various Social Security benefits for which a cancer patient or their loved one may be eligible, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) and survivor’s benefits.

The program will be offered from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Conference Room I in the 12 High Street Medical Office Building adjacent to CMMC. The group is open to people living with cancer, as well as their spouses/partners, family members and caregivers. There is no fee for participation.
