CANTON – A 1999 Toyota sports utility vehicle was destroyed Friday afternoon, but the two teenagers inside escaped unhurt.

Sgt. Tim Holland of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said Kaile Underwood, 16, of East Dixfield was driving west on Route 108 near River Road when the vehicle started leaving the road.

He then apparently over-corrected, and the SUV crossed the center line and rolled over at least three times.

With him was Jonathan Smith, 16, of Canton.

Both boys were wearing safety belts, according to police.

Med-Care Ambulance Service checked out the two boys, who had only bumps and bruises.

The vehicle was valued at $10,000, said Holland.

The accident happened at about 1:15 p.m.
