PORTLAND – Louis John Palman, 81, of Falmouth, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Lewiston on Nov. 28, 1925, he was the son of John and Mary (Slovenska) Palman.
He was an active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish, serving on the parish council and men’s club; and was a member of the Elk’s Club and the New England Telephone Pioneers.
Lou graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Navy the same year. He served in the European Theater, D-Day on Omaha Beach and the Korean War.
He worked for the New England Telephone Co. for more than 30 years. After retirement, he and his wife, Eileen, enjoyed many years of pleasant winter weather in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen M. Palman of Falmouth; two sons, Gregory L. and his wife, Deborah Palman, of Aurora, Gary E. and his wife, Mary Palman, of Falmouth; a daughter, Mary Lou and her husband, Donald R. Burgess, of Kennebunkport; a brother, Stanley Palman of Lewiston; and four grandchildren, Kathryn E. Palman and Johnathan E. Palman of Portland, and Nicholas R. and Timothy R. Burgess of Kennebunkport.
