LEWISTON – Marie Jeanne Poulin, 88, formerly of 1041 Sabattus St., died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Marshwood Healthcare Facility.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 25, 1918, the daughter of Jean and Rose-Anna Gilbert Plante. She was educated in Lewiston schools and attended Pelletier’s School of Hair Fashion. She later worked in the shoe industry.
She was married to Dominique Poulin on July 12, 1941. He died on Feb. 10, 2000.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish.
She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, listening to music, trips to the coast and to Canada, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Christine and her husband, Russell Swift, of Wales, Linda and her husband, Lee Myles, of Turner, Helen and her husband, Gaetan Fontaine, of Wales; two sons, Daniel of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Leonard and his wife, Constance, of Poland; 13 grandchildren, James and Christopher Poulin of Florida, Jeffrey and Eric Poulin of Virginia, Matthew Poulin of Lewiston, Michelle Poulin-Archambault of California, Thomas Poulin of Wells, Christian Poulin of Gorham, Aaron Swift of Minot, Devin and Jonathan Myles of Turner, and Gabriel and Daniel Fontaine of Wales; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Therese Maillet and Jeanne Rubino, both of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her husband; a grandson, Jasen Swift on Oct. 14, 1993; seven sisters, Marie-Louise Dumais, Roseanne Hemond, Rose-Alma Plante, Alice Maillet, Adrienne Rancourt, Germaine Chatel and Marguerite Plante; and seven brothers, Ernest, Antoine, Emile, Albert, Armand, Robert and Rosaire Plante.
