Time change

OXFORD – Beginning on Monday, Jan. 8, the Oxford Senior Citizens game group will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Recreation Building. It is a change of time. The group will continue to meet at that time on Mondays through spring.

Collecting food

OTISFIELD – Otisfield Community School fifth-grader Jared Jacobs is collecting donations of nonperishable food items, household goods, paper products and health care items for less fortunate families.

Donations can be dropped off at the school on Powhattan Road, at WOXO on Main Street, Norway, or at Just Ship It, 13 Water St., Norway, through Jan. 31. Donations will be distributed to local families by the Spurrs Corner Church food pantry. For more information, call Joanie at 539-9969.

Knitters to meet

PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris. The meeting will be a problem-solving knit-in.

Those attending can bring knitting problems. For more information, call Midge Leighton at 743-7677 or Marvis Maynard at 744-0167. In case of a winter storm, if there is no school they will be no meeting.

Camera Club

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Camera Club will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays in room C105 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris. Meetings will include a time for sharing, comparing and showing off images. Field trips are planned.

The club participates in two or three art shows each year. When adult education classes are canceled because of weather, the camera club meeting is also canceled. For more information, contact Kristine at 743-2704.

Club supper

OXFORD – The Rock-O-Dundee Riders Snowmobile Club will have its annual fried clam, shrimp, haddock and chicken finger supper from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the clubhouse, Paine Road, East Oxford.

This is a major fundraiser of the year. The supper will include French fries, coleslaw, rolls, a beverage and a homemade dessert. The food will be supplied and cooked by the Lost Gull Restaurant in Welchville.

There will be no telephone take-out orders this year. Patrons will have a choice of take-out or eat-in, but will have to go to the clubhouse for either. All suppers will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

No meeting

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will not meet in January. The board members will meet at the home of Betty Hayes to plan meetings for 2007. Call Hayes at 743-6761 to suggest ideas for programs. Regular meetings will resume in February. If school is canceled because of weather, there will be no AARP meeting that day. AARP will meet the next day, Tuesday, at the regular time.

Gets donations

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society has received a number of donations recently.

Michael Stowell Sr. has given the society some Littlefield family genealogical newsletters. Claribel Poland sent the society museum an old photo of the Whitman School. Curator Larry Billings donated an abstract painting, Christmas decorations and old pottery.

Dr. Steve Chase of Norway and Joan and Richard Ford of Concord, Mass., gave monetary contributions. Billings helped the Fords with research last summer.
