Musical benefit

LEWISTON – A Ryan J. Guay memorial benefit will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Cafe Bon-Bon, 205 Main St.

The benefit will feature Gregory Guay performing works by Bach, Villa-Lobos and Tarrega on classical guitar, accompanied by Tom Guay on bass. There will also be a performance by singer/songwriter Ken Coleman.

Donations will be accepted to benefit the Ryan J. Guay Scholarship Fund.

OES meeting

AUBURN – A special meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

Officers will confer the degrees of the order. All Eastern Star members are invited to welcome the new member. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall after the meeting.

Lodge to install

WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, will hold a semi-public installation of officers at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Wales Grange and Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road. Lodge members, friends, families and those interested in learning more about the fraternity are invited. Refreshments will follow the services.

Bottle drive

AUBURN – The Edward Little High School girls basketball team will hold a bottle drive on Saturday, Jan. 6, to benefit their program. Bottles may also be turned in at Florian’s Market for the team.

Club speaker

AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will hold its first meeting of the new year at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the High Street Congregational Church.

The speaker will be Roy Farnsworth, whose life work as a Bates college geology professor and department chairman spanned 29 years. One of his primary interests now is land conservation.

Farnsworth will present a program about a three-week Elderhostel trip that he and his wife took to four Hawaiian islands.

Hostesses will be Kim Lidstone, Grace Keene, Jackie Michaud and Lillian Coombs.

Widows to meet

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, Jan. 8, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering begins for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.
