WOODSTOCK – Cleo Appleby Ryerson of Perkins Valley Road recently celebrated her 80th birthday at a party given by her children and their families.

Mrs. Ryerson is the daughter of Walter and Evelyn Appleby. She was educated in the Woodstock Church School and Woodstock High School. She married Emery Ryerson on Dec. 21, 1946. He died on May 18, 1987.

Mrs. Ryerson has one brother, Walter Appleby Jr. of Woodstock, and three sisters, Maude Alice Appleby Hadley and husband, Erlon, of Woodstock, Betty Appleby Estabrook and husband, Ray, of Bath and Florida, and Helen Appleby Heath and husband, Bob, of Peru. Helen died in 1972.

Mrs. Ryerson has five sons: Craig and wife, Jane, of Bethel, Duane and wife, Lisa, of Woodstock, Perry and wife, Anna, of Wayne, Troy of Woodstock and David Belskis and wife, Carol, of West Paris; nine grandchildren (one deceased), nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ryerson is active in the community and Legion Auxiliary affairs and visits with her family whenever possible.
