Ross Jordan, a senior at Connecticut College, is a volunteer tutor at a public middle school in New London, Conn. Jordan volunteers through the Office of Volunteers for Community Service at Connecticut College. OVCS plays a role in teaching students about community engagement and the best practices of participation.
Jordan, a 2003 graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School, Northfield, is the son of Adelaide Solomon-Jordan of Rumford and Windsor Jordan Sr. of Decatur, Ga.
Connecticut College students act as teaching assistants, work with small groups of students or work one-on-one with those needing tutors at the Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School or at the Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication, a public regional magnet school for middle school students.
