Puppy classes

AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting another six-week dog obedience class on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Auburn. Beginner classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. Dogs must be at least 3 1/2 months old. To register and for more information, call club trainer Diane Harrington at 784-7578.

Seniors to install

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

There will be installation of officers for the year. Bingo will follow a bag lunch. Members are reminded to bring items for the raffle table. Tickets will be on sale for the Valentine party luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Jan. 10 and 24 meetings for $4 each. Dues must be paid for 2007 in order to attend.

On Dec. 13 Robin Dow Seniors had a Christmas dinner celebration at the Ramada Inn with 68 members present. Musical entertainment was provided by the Silvertones. Pot of gold winners were Florence Webber, Gerald Timberlake, Dorothy Larrabee, Ellie Rolerson, George Remillard, Anne Edwards, Thelma Lever, Virginia Houston, Burleigh Edwards and Alice Lavallee.

OES to convene

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The stations of conductress and associate conductress will be honored. Susan Hawes, grand conductress, and Phyllis Blakely, associate grand conductress, have been invited. Members will renew their obligation and the landmarks will be read.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Mission fundraiser

LEWISTON – Hope Haven Gospel Mission will hold an open house fundraiser from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. Proceeds will go toward the mission’s capital campaign.

Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

The event will take place on the first floor, Lincoln Street side. For more information, contact Hope Haven at 783-6086.

Adult ed classes

LEWISTON – Lewiston Adult Education will offer all types of classes, from health and fitness, cooking, arts and crafts, to computers. Most classes will meet once a week.

Annual walk

AUBURN – The 14th annual Winter Walk Againist Violence will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Auburn Mall.

The walk is the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project’s major annual fundraiser. In 2005-2006, AWAP provided services to 2,119 men, women and children in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties. The theme of the walk is to provide an opportunity for community members to join to create and celebrate peace.
