LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education begins registration for spring classes on Monday, Jan. 8.

Computer courses starting in January and early February will include “Computer Basics” and “Introduction to Excel,” both starting Wednesday, Jan. 31. An “Introduction to Word” course will start Monday, Jan. 29. A seven-week “QuickBooks Pro” class will meet Thursdays, starting Feb. 1. “Intermediate Web Design with Dreamweaver” will begin Monday, Jan. 22, and “Computerized Keyboarding” will begin Tuesday, Jan. 30.

A three-course electrician career training series will start Tuesday, Jan. 23, with “Electricity I” meeting for 15 weeks. The series is accepted by the Maine State Licensing Board toward an electrical license.

An “Accounting II” course will begin Monday, Jan. 29. “Accounting I” or a basic knowledge of accounting are required as prerequisites. A substitute teaching course will meet for five weeks beginning Wednesday, Jan. 24. Lisbon Adult Education offers certificate programs in “Word Processing,” “Computer Technology” and “Accounting Skills.”

Lisbon Adult Education now has the use of space at the former Lisbon Elementary School. Fitness classes are offered at the new location on Gartley Street, Lisbon.

Beginning and continuing yoga classes will be offered starting Tuesday, Feb. 6. Pilates will meet on Mondays and Wednesday starting Jan. 22. Two four-week dancing classes will be offered starting Monday, Jan. 22.

“Swing Dance for Beginners” will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and “Introduction to Ballroom Dancing, Fox Trot and Waltz” will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Indoor walking will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. starting Jan. 22.

A beginning knitting class will meet for seven weeks starting Feb. 6. A “Double Knit Jiffy Mitten” class using four needles will start Tuesday, Jan. 23, and meet for five weeks. A six-week crocheting class will start Wednesday, Feb. 7. The class is open to beginners and advanced students.

A fiction writing workshop, open to all aspiring writers, will start Thursday, Feb. 8. A daytime decorative painting class will meet at the former Lisbon Elementary School starting Monday, Feb. 5. An evening decorative painting class will start Wednesday, Jan. 31. A family Valentine workshop for children ages 4 through 12 will meet Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Academic courses include physics, biology, “Algebra I,” writing and “Consumer Math.” Academic courses will start the week of Jan. 22.

For adults planning to go to college who want to prepare for college placement tests, “Math Refresher I” will start Monday, Jan. 22, and “College Prep Reading” Thursday, Jan. 25.

GED testing will be offered at 2:30 and 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Testing will also be available on Tuesday mornings by appointment. Students must be at least 18 to begin GED testing. The GED prep class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
