ROXBURY – This community’s annual town meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 12. The location, however, has not been decided.

Work is continuing on a new town office, but it is uncertain whether it will be completed in time for the annual event, Deputy Town Clerk Rosie Susbury said. The meeting could take place at the old town office a couple of miles north of the new site on Route 17, or it could be held in neighboring Mexico.

The meeting site will be announced later.

Nomination papers are available for town clerk/tax collector/treasurer, one selectman, and one representative to the SAD 43 board.

Those wishing to run for any of the open positions must gather between 10 and 25 signatures of registered voters in town, and return the papers to the town office by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26.

Tina Howard, the town clerk/tax collector and treasurer, will seek a third, one-year term. Also up for election is a three-year term currently held by Douten Thomas.

The town will also try to field a representative to sit on the SAD 43 board. That seat has been vacant since Mark Touchette resigned in December 2005 to become a selectman. State statute prevents people from serving as selectman and school representative simultaneously.

The term for the school board seat is three years.
