MONMOUTH – Georges Valley used a 22-8 final quarter to break open the lead in a 60-39 win over Monmouth in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.

The Buccaneers built a 17-8 lead in the first quarter but Monmouth stayed within reach and were down 38-31 entering the fourth.

Travis Merrifield and Brandon Staples each had 12 points for Georges Valley (6-3). Charlie Johnson chipped in 11. Ronnie Hobson led the Mustangs (4-5) with 16 points while Nate Armstrong added 11.
