AUBURN – Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s mascot, “Soupy,” made a visit to St. Joseph’s Child Development Center in December to pick up more than 500 pounds of food and more than $150 in donations from a recent food and fund drive.

The nonperishable food items were distributed to hundreds of families during the holiday season.

The food bank seeks items that are in high demand during the winter, including soups, canned meats, canned vegetables and fruits, macaroni and cheese, pasta and peanut butter.

Each dollar donated can provide more than $12.50 in food to area agencies, so the donation will equate to more than $1,875 worth of food.

Good Shepherd Food-Bank is Maine’s largest charitable hunger relief organization, providing food to more than 570 partner agencies throughout the state. To learn more about the food bank, visit www.gsfb.org.
