Christopher D. Palmer has been accepted at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford and will begin in August 2007.

Palmer graduated magna cum laude and is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society from the University of New England Class of 2006 with a BS in medical biology and a minor in chemistry. He is also a certified personal trainer and EMT. During his senior year he was employed at the 21 Club after-school program for disadvantaged youth.

Last summer Palmer worked in the Pharmacology Department of the University of New England, testing the effects of specific drugs and blueberries for diabetes research. He is presently working under James Vaughn, PhD, in the Microbiology Department, researching the roles and characteristics of marine viruses.

He is a 2002 graduate of Mountain Valley High School in Rumford. Christopher is the son of Noel and Elaine Palmer of Rumford, and the grandson of Leah Palmer, the late Stan Palmer and the late Albert and Marguerite Levesque.
