LEWISTON – “Look Good … Feel Better,” the American Cancer Society’s program for assisting women who are faced with appearance changes resulting from cancer treatment, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center’s Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care Center, 12 High St., Suite 103.

OES program

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall, Route 196. The evening’s program will be “The Beauty of Nature – Hawaiian Night” and the chapter will honor past and present matrons and patrons. Hawaiian theme refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members of the order are invited.

Mayor at meeting

AUBURN – Auburn Mayor John Jenkins will hold an open meeting for Danville residents at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Danville Junction Grange, 15 Grange St. The meeting will allow Danville residents the opportunity to speak to the mayor and discuss items they may wish included in his plans for the year. The event is being sponsored by the Grange Community Service Committee.

Seniors to meet

LEWISTON – The Holy Cross Seniors will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, in the Church hall. Greg Boardman, leader and director of a 15-piece orchestra comprised of fiddlers, flutists, cellists and guitarists, will provide the entertainment.

The musicians, who joined a year ago, compose and perform in traditional, Irish, French Canadian and southern Appalachian styles. Boardman teaches at the Maine Fiddle Camp, which he founded in 1994, and also in the Lewiston public schools and Bates College. He also participates in local classical and folk groups as well as church ministries.

Area seniors and a friend are invited. A social will follow, and a light lunch will be served. Information will be available for those who would like to join the 300 Club.

Benefit dance

LEWISTON – Sun Journal employees will hold their third annual benefit dance for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. Boogie2Shooz will play for dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight.

There will be door prizes, raffles, silent auction, 50-50 and munchies.Tickets are $10 in advance or $12.50 at the door. Appreciation night

LEWISTON – United Way of Androscoggin County will team up with the Lewiston MAINEiacs and Margarita’s Restaurant to offer the community Donor Appreciation Night on Friday, Feb. 2.

Residents can attend a MAINEiacs game for the reduced price of $10 a ticket at 7 p.m., then celebrate after at Margarita’s Restaurant Full Moon Madness with games and prizes. Proceeds will benefit United Way of Androscoggin County.

Seniors meal

SABATTUS – The Sabattus Senior Citizens’ Jan. 4 dinner was opened with a blessing after which baked ham and all the fixings were served by Pauline Gemme, Larry LaCoste and crew.

Vice President Bob Sutton opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. The birthday list was read and the “Birthday Song” was sung. The secretary’s report was read by Joline Loesberg and the financial report was read by Pauline Gemme. The meeting was attended by 105 members.

Members were asked to vote on a donation to the Maxwell-Gill Hall boiler fund, which they approved. Beano was played.

Trip Co-ordinator Jean Doyon has day trips scheduled to Foxwood on every second Tuesday, a maple sugar party in Canada in April and a two-day trip to Monhegan on April 19 to 20. Call Doyon at 784-5264 for more information.
