Legion post plans King memorial

LEWISTON – Post 22, American Legion, will hold a membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Lewiston, Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.

The meeting will include a memorial service for Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The committee in charge of the service is composed of Commander Gerald Labrie, Adjutant Jerry DerBoghosian and Trustee Roland Cyr.

An update will be given on membership and finances followed by the memorial service, which will open with the reading of a proclamation on the birthday of Dr. King. A special prayer will be held followed by the singing of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” by the assembly.

All members attending should have their 2007 membership card in their possession; members who haven’t paid their 2007 membership dues are asked to attend. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. For more information, call 353-7435 or 795-6821.
