FARMINGTON – Nera’s owner had her since she was 2 years old, but he is now in Iraq and Nera had to be placed in the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

She is 6 years old, and staff said she is “a complete sweetheart.” She is well mannered, gets along okay with other animals and seems fine with kids.

She may not be a young pup anymore, but she still has tons of energy, staff said. She’s a bit overweight, but they are working on that. She loves to go for walks and to play and snuggle. One of her current favorite pastimes is eating snow.

The shelter is in desperate need of paper towels, bleach, cat litter, cat food, dog food and kitten chow. If anyone has a few minutes to spare, the dogs would always enjoy a walk.

New dogs at the shelter include a Chihuahua mix from Industry and a hound mix from Wilton.

For more information on adoption or to volunteer, call the shelter at 778-2638.
