SABATTUS – A brief in Monday’s City edition on B1 incorrectly attributed an explanation of frozen dam gates to Sabattus Selectman Steve Wood. Wood never suggested readers “hold your breath in anticipation” of Sabattus Lake levels returning to normal. The information was incorrectly inserted during editing. Additionally, Sabattus Dam Commission member Pete Clarke told the Sun Journal on Monday that there is no “normal level” at the lake. Fluctuations due to weather and heavy rainfall through December resulted in higher water levels than residents are accustomed to seeing.
