FARMINGTON – An informational public meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Farmington Town Office. Deputy Kenneth Charles of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department will discuss the escalating crime rate and its relationship to drug use in the county.

He will give residents tips on how to protect themselves from burglary or theft and talk about what kinds of drugs are being found in Franklin County. Charles will share some of the signs and symptoms of drug use. There will also be a chance for questions.

Ideas about ways to keep young adults active and involved will be shared after the presentation. Ray Corey from the Cooperative Extension will discuss the 4-H program, which offers projects for youth to explore. Other community, church and school programs will also be discussed.
