BETHEL – Each year, thousands visit the Bethel Historical Society’s exhibits, lectures, special events and museum. In 2006, recorded visitors came from 37 states, the District of Columbia and 11 foreign nations.

Among the states represented were Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Minnesota, Iowa, New Mexico, Georgia, Arizona, Montana, Kansas, Colorado, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Idaho, Texas, Nevada, Delaware, Nebraska, Michigan and Alabama.

Foreign nations included Canada, Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Chile, New Zealand, Argentina, Germany, the Czech Republic, Egypt and France.

“We seem to be attracting increasing numbers of foreign visitors,” said Stanley R. Howe, society executive director.
