Downtown meet

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant. The public is welcome.

Reading group

DIXFIELD – The Adult Reading Group of the Ludden Memorial Library will meet from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, downstairs in the Community Room.

They will discuss “The Innocent Man” by James Grisham. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served. Ginny Bragdon is the facilitator. All adults who enjoy reading are welcome.

If the weather is bad, people are asked to call the library to check on the possibility of cancellation.

Art classes

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer an introductory painting I class from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Phillips School art room with instructor Elizabeth Olbert.

The course will run for 10 weeks with maximum space for 15 students. The cost is $75 and students are required to supply their own materials and paints. The focus will be on mastering the basics of the demanding mediums of acrylic or oil paints on canvas.

All aspects of painting will be examined in logical progression. Students will learn about composition, the painter’s tools, color theory and methods.

Tasting party

NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard North SC will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Smith Hall. There will be a tasting party; members are asked to take something to share and the recipe. The public is welcome.
