LEWISTON – Planet Cheer youth and junior all-star cheerleading teams brought home wins in their first competition of the year on Jan. 20. The Northeast Winter Blast, sponsored by American Cheer and Dance, was held at the Whittemore Center, University of New Hampshire.

The Planet Cheer youth team took home a first-place win and a bid to Final Destination in Baltimore, Md., in May.

The Planet Cheer junior team also took home a first and a full paid bid to Final Destination by earning grand champions for the highest Level 3 score of the day, beating out 17 other teams, 12 of which were senior level teams.

The Nation’s Leading Cheer Companies sponsors the Final Destination competition, which focuses on the recognition of all levels of cheerleading and dance.

Planet Cheer will be fundraising for the trip to Baltimore. Both teams are coached by co-owners of Fortier Family Cheer Center Deneka Deletesky and Tiffany Lebrun, as well as tumble coach, Matt Hanley II.
