LEWISTON – The Lewiston Education Fund board of directors has established a fund in honor of Anne Niemiec, volunteer director of the LEF from 2004-1006. The money raised will be administered by the fund and will underwrite special projects at the Lewiston Adult Learning Center.

Niemiec served as Lewiston Adult Education director from 1985 until 2004 and won statewide recognition for her excellent work and leadership in adult education programming.

“The establishment of this fund is the perfect way to honor Anne Niemiec’s exemplary service to this community,” said Peggy Rotundo, president of the Lewiston Education Fund. “Anne devoted her life to promoting life-long learning in this community. The Anne Niemiec Fund celebrates her vision and the difference she made in the lives of adult learners in Lewiston and Auburn for over 20 years.”

The Lewiston Education Fund was established in 2002 as a nonprofit organization created to fund projects and programs that expand educational opportunities, foster creativity and enhance academic excellence in Lewiston’s public schools. Contributions to the Niemiec fund can be made online or sent to the Lewiston Education Fund – Anne Niemiec Fund, Lewiston School Department, 36 Oak St., Lewiston, ME 04240.
