LIVERMORE FALLS – Creative Ag Connections is a newly formed nonprofit group dedicated to establishing local hubs for agriculture. Connections focuses on local food issues concerning accessibility, health and nutrition, sustainability, open farmland and food security.

Connections will increase local foods access to the public by promoting a farmer and consumers cooperative and by reestablishing a local foods distribution network.

Connections local foods dinner meetings will be held throughout the area to gain support and input from farmers, consumers and retail outlets. The formation of a local food cooperative dedicated to securing and supplying local food products is being developed.

The group in collaboration with Women, Work and Community has received a grant through the Creative Economy Initiative that will provide business planning and training support for area citizens. The training sessions will begin March 9.

Anyone interested in helping further the efforts and planning or to find out more is invited to a meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Sweetiez, 18 Munsey Ave.

A free dinner featuring local foods will be served before the meeting. Those attending should RSVP Lauri at 597-2746 or for directions and additional information. Donations will be accepted and participation is requested. The next meeting is scheduled at Nezinscot Farm in Turner on March 14.
