LEWISTON – New Life Christian Fellowship’s teen group, Youth Up, is inviting the public to a viewing of the film, “Pay It Forward” (PG-13), at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at 134 College St. Child care is available.

Youth Up is joining the Pay It Forward movement that educates and inspires participants to realize that they can change the world. The premise is one that any person can implement in his or her own life at any time.

It begins with doing an act of kindness for another person – without any expectation of being paid back. Indeed, one would request that the recipient of that favor do the same for someone else; ideally for three other people. The unconditional acts of kindness can be large or small.

Each member of Youth Up will do a good deed for three people. In turn, the individuals will join the movement and do a good deed for three new people. The process will enlist new individuals continuously and has the potential to touch lives throughout the community.

People who participate in the movement will receive a Pay It Forward bracelet. They will also have the opportunity to be videotaped as they tell others about the impact the good deed had on their lives.

In addition, Youth Up has identified challenges in the community and will tackle such problems as homelessness, abuse, hunger and the loneliness experienced by long-term nursing home patients. Once a month, the group will volunteer at local social service agencies.

Anyone who has questions or wishes to make a donation to the project should contact Cindy at 782-1112.
