LEWISTON – A six-year drought was ended as team Hall & Knight took top honors in this year’s Thomas E. Lahey Bowlfest held last weekend at Spare-Time Recreation.

Jeff Bolduc (233 average), Tony Towns (232), Dana Price (211), along with Larry Turcotte and Dave Kordalski led all teams in the 3-string qualifying round.

Entering the single string roll-off, Hall & Knight had a very low, 81 pin handicap, but edged out Chicken of Maine (204 handicap) by 37 pins. Towns led with a 258 scratch and Turcotte’s 195 helped seal the deal. Eastern Fire Protection finished third.

Members of Chicken of Maine were Captain Gerry Allaire, Dan Mynahan, Brian Albert, Larry Baldiga and Ernie Ashton.

Eastern Fire’s team was comprised of Captain Frank Welch, Pam Welch, Dolly Welch, Bud Welch and Meddy Perry.

A total of 170 bowlers competed. Mike Lahey’s 193 scratch string earned him the 2007 “Atta Boy” award.

High School League

LEWISTON – Lewiston High is the Southern Division leader in the Maine High School Bowling League.

In recent action, the Blue Devils defeated arch-rival Edward Little, 14.5-4.5. Phil Provencher of LHS rolled the high game for the boys, a 222. EL’s Kyle Sawyer collected high series with a 390. For the girls, Katy Bouchard of LHS led with 203-403.

In other recent matches, Messalonskee defeated Erskine 13.5-5.5, and Waterville 19-0; Monmouth edged Wiscasset 10-9; and Cony prevailed 12-7.
