PARIS – Students and family members of Bouchard’s Karate Academy in South Paris have collected $817 for the Sidekick Foundation. “We also submitted a matching grant application to the Oxford Wal-Mart, who is a big supporter,” said Donna Bouchard, owner and chief instructor.

The Sidekick Foundation is a national charity that allows karate schools like Bouchard’s to provide scholarships to local kids. The scholarships allow local “at-risk” or low-income kids to attend the school, providing tuition and equipment.

“Bouchard’s Karate Academy is established on the following precepts; humility, self-control, integrity, courtesy, discipline and perseverance. Students learn to always give 100 percent effort in all of life’s challenges,” said Bouchard.

She said the funds collected are used strictly for kids in the Oxford Hills area, and donations are 100 percent tax deductible.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Sidekick Foundation to benefit local kids should contact Bouchard at 743-6193 or bouchardkarate@gmail.com.
