LISBON – Lisbon Adult Education has openings in classes starting in early February for daytime and evening programs.

Beginning and continuing yoga classes will start on Tuesday, Feb. 6; the beginning class at 5:15 p.m. and continuing at 7 p.m. Morning walking will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Evening walking will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Tuesday, Feb. 6, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Indoor walkers are asked to bring a separate pair of shoes for walking to protect the gym floor. All fitness classes are held at the former Lisbon Elementary School on Gartley Street, Lisbon.

Decorative painting classes, also known as tole painting, will be offered on a day and evening schedule. Daytime classes will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting Monday, Feb. 5. Evening classes began Jan. 31 and meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Students sign up for specific projects. Registration is ongoing.

Quilting classes will begin in March and will be offered in the morning and in the evening. A family Valentine workshop, designed for children ages 4 through 12, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. Samples of projects for painting, quilting and the Valentine vorkshop are on display in the Adult Education Office, Lisbon High School.

An “Eat Well” nutrition workshop series will start Wednesday, Feb. 7, and run for six weeks. The program will be taught by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service at Lisbon High School. The hands-on class includes cooking. Call 353-3037 for schedule and description.

Computer classes with openings include “Introduction to Office,” which starts March 21; “Introduction to Windows XP” starting March 8; and “Computers for Complete Beginners,” which starts March 7.

A beginning knitting class will start Tuesday, Feb. 6, meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. A crocheting class will begin Wednesday, Feb. 7, meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both classes run for six weeks.

A double knit jiffy mitten class for experienced knitters will meet for four weeks from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 7. “Fly Tying for Beginners” will meet for five weeks beginning Wednesday, Feb. 7. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m.

A writing fiction class will meet for eight weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Thursday, Feb. 8.
