LEWISTON – All six Maine Event Cheer and Dance teams that competed in the recent annual American Cheer and Dance Winter Blast in Durham, N.H., earned first place finishes in their competition divisions.

The top-place finishes qualify each of the six teams for entry in The Final Destination, World’s Best competition scheduled for May in Baltimore.

Three of the Maine Event teams achieved scores qualifying them for “full paid bids” to attend the World’s Best competition, meaning that entry fees have been waived.

Maine Event Cheer’s Junior Pink Team won the Winter Blast’s Grand Champion Award for performing the best routine of the day and achieving the highest score of all teams in the competition.

Maine Event Cheer also competed in the COA New England Nationals, with their mini-team winning third place in their division and the youth team winning first place.

Since its establishment in 2005, Maine Event Cheer has won 17 national championship titles and 50 first-place finishes in various competitions.

Maine Event Cheer and Dance teams are comprised of athletes from many Maine communities, including Lewiston, Auburn, Poland, Turner, Bath, Brunswick, Lisbon, Mechanic Falls, Gray, Greene, Sabattus, Wales, Oxford, Norway, Winslow, Minot, Monmouth, Gardiner, Westbrook, Owls Head and Rockland.
