BOSTON – The Boston Celtics lost their franchise-record 14th consecutive game Friday night, falling 100-89 to Elton Brand and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Brand had 26 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks, and Cuttino Mobley added 20 points for the Clippers, who have won seven of their last eight.

Tim Thomas scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, five of them during a 7-0 stretch in which L.A. turned a 71-69 deficit into a 76-71 lead.

The Clippers never trailed after Thomas’ free throws snapped a 71-71 tie.

Rajon Rondo, making his first career start, scored 23 points for the Celtics. Al Jefferson added 21 points and Delonte West had six points, 11 assists and a career-high 11 rebounds.

The once-proud franchise has not won a game since beating Memphis on Jan. 5. The only thing the Celtics and Grizzlies are competing for these days is the top spot in the draft lottery and a chance to select Ohio State’s Greg Oden or Texas’ Kevin Durant.

The most decorated team in NBA history, the Celtics have won 16 championships but none since 1986 – by far the longest drought in franchise history.

Right now, they’d settle for a win.

In addition to their overall streak, they’ve lost a franchise-record 11 consecutive home games and are a league-worst 4-19 at home. Boston is 2-20 since Paul Pierce went out with a stress reaction in his left foot.

West hit a long jumper to cut the deficit to four points, 83-79, with 5:46 left. But Mobley sank a 3-pointer and, after Gomes made one free throw, Thomas hit a 3 to give the Clippers a nine-point lead.

Notes: Brand was poked in the eye by Rondo in the third quarter but did not have to leave the game. … The Celtics fell to 2-1 with Scalabrine in the starting lineup. … Pierce shot before the game and played one-on-one against Wally Szczerbiak, albeit not at full speed. Coach Doc Rivers said Pierce can put full pressure on his foot now and could return soon; there was no timetable for him to come back, though. … The Celtics lost 13 in a row in 1993-94 and 1996-97. … The Clippers have beaten Boston three straight times. … The Clippers are 9-3 since Sam Cassell returned from an eight-game absence with a left heel injury.

Pacers 95, Lakers 84

INDIANAPOLIS – Jermaine O’Neal scored 22 points and the Indiana Pacers used a 17-2 fourth-quarter rally to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 95-84 on Friday night.

Kobe Bryant had 22 points on 7-of-25 shooting from the field and Smush Parker scored 20 for the Lakers (28-19), who lost for the fourth straight time at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Jamaal Tinsley finished with 16 points, Darrell Armstrong and Danny Granger each had 14 and O’Neal grabbed nine rebounds for Indiana (25-21), which won for the fifth time in six games.

Raptors 103, Hawks 91

ATLANTA – Chris Bosh scored 24 points and Morris Peterson had 21 to help the Toronto Raptors beat the Atlanta Hawks 103-91 on Friday night.

Winners of five of six, the Atlantic Division-leading Raptors improved to 24-23, the first time since 2001-02 that they’ve been over .500 this late in a season.

Bosh had 10 rebounds to lead Toronto in points and boards for the 29th time in his 35 games.

Atlanta, which never led after Josh Smith’s dunk made it 4-2, couldn’t recover after an unnecessary push-off foul on Zaza Pachulia following a missed 3 by Anthony Parker, allowed Peterson to hit a 3 for a 100-87 lead with 4:16 remaining.

Cavaliers 101, Bobcats 81

CLEVELAND – LeBron James scored 18 points, 13 after halftime, and the Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back from a tough road loss by beating the Charlotte Bobcats 101-81 on Friday night.

One night after blowing a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter and letting Miami’s Dwyane Wade drop 24 points on them in the final period, the Cavaliers built a double-digit lead by halftime and rolled.

James, slowed by a sprained right big toe that might bother him all season, added 10 rebounds in 35 minutes. Drew Gooden had 16 points, Larry Hughes 13 and Anderson Varejao 12 while matching a season high with 13 rebounds for Cleveland.

Gerald Wallace, coming off a franchise-record 42-point game on Wednesday vs. New York, led Charlotte with 16 points and rookie Adam Morrison had 14. The banged-up Bobcats were undermanned, playing without guard Brevin Knight (abdominal tear), center Primoz Brezec (back spasms) and forward Sean May (sore knee).

Warriors 102, 76ers 101

PHILADELPHIA – Al Harrington’s nifty spin move in the paint with 1.2 seconds left helped the Golden State Warriors snap a six-game road losing streak with a 102-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

Baron Davis had 25 points and 12 assists, Monta Ellis scored 21 points and Stephen Jackson added 17 for the Warriors.

Andre Iguodala had his third career triple-double with 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds for Philadelphia. Andre Miller had 19 points and Rodney Carney 15 for the Sixers, who opened a seven-game homestand. The Sixers have 16 of their next 20 games at home after playing 29 of the first 47 on the road.

Each team needed a couple of fortuitous defensive plays and clutch baskets down the stretch.

The win came down to late-game defensive stops for the Sixers, and the Warriors missed a driving layup. But the officials said the loose ball bounced off the Sixers, though replays seemed to indicate it bounced off Harrington, giving Golden State one more opportunity.

The Sixers didn’t have two stops in them. Harrington spun around Joe Smith in the lane for a left-handed layup and the winner with 1.2 seconds left.
