Maine State Police Trooper Dan Hanson of Paris said this week that alcohol was involved in the Jan. 8 crash that killed two Bridgton Academy students and injured two others.

Passengers Brian Douchette of Berwick and Patrick Reddy of Lynn, Mass., both 18, were killed in the crash on Route 114 in Sebago near the Naples town line.

Driver Owen Gill, 18, of Lakeville, Mass., remains at Maine Medical Center in Portland with severe injuries, he said.

Passenger Matthew Scioli, 19, of North Reading, Mass., was treated at MMC and released.

Hanson said the four were drinking in a girls dorm room on the Gorham campus of the University of Maine before to the crash. He is investigating how the boys obtained the alcohol and plans to consult later with the district attorney’s office, he said.
