FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – The New England Revolution have signed their top three draft choices, including Wake Forest midfielders Wells Thompson and Ryan Solle, the team said Friday.

Thompson, 23, scored 16 goals in his four years at Wake Forest, where he also played forward. The Revolution selected him fifth overall in last month’s draft.

Also signed for the 2007 season is Santa Clara defender Amaechi Igwe, selected 12th overall last month. Igwe, 18, also played midfield in his one year at Santa Clara. He has made seven appearances for the U.S. under-20 national team in the past two seasons.

Solle, 21, was selected in the second round with the 25th pick overall. He scored five goals last season.

The Revolution did not disclose terms of the contracts.
