AUGUSTA (AP) – The state has started to accept campground reservations for Maine’s 2007 season.
The Bureau of Parks and Lands on Thursday unveiled its new “real-time” reservation system, which is available 24-7 and offers campers instant confirmation.
Parks Director Willard Harris Maine said campground customers are Internet-savvy. He says that during the last five years, Internet reservation requests have grown to nearly 80 percent of the total.
The campground reservations office still accepts phone and walk-in reservations. Many campers were waiting in line when the office opened Thursday morning.
