LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph M. Chabot was held Saturday morning at Holy Cross Church following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home.

Celebrating the Mass were Joseph’s brothers, The Rev. Roger Chabot as main celebrant and concelebrants the Rev. Robert Chabot, as well as the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf and the Rev. Andrew Dubois, also Joe’s brother-in-law, the Rev. Maurice Morin, and the Rev. Benoit Morin, Jeannine’s cousin from Canada.

During Mass readings were done by Joe’s son and daughter, Donald Chabot and Patrice Griffin. Prayer of the faithful was read by Joe’s son-in-law, Thomas Griffin. The offertory was brought to the altar by Joe’s grandchildren, Natasha Chabot and Renee and Claire Griffin. At the conclusion of Mass, words of remembrance were shared by Joe’s sons, Daniel and Marc Chabot.

Following committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Chabot, Joe’s grandsons, Matt Chabot sang “Poor Wayfarin Stranger” accompanied by flutist, Ben Chabot. The U.S. Air Force Honor Detail played “Taps” and presented our country’s flag to Joe’s wife, Jeannine, in honor of her husband’s military service during the Korean Conflict.

The pallbearers were Nathan Telow, Raymond, Matthew, Bennett and Luc Chabot and Connor Griffin.

Following the committal, a reception of fellowship was held at the Carriage House Banquet Facility in Lewiston. Arrangements were by the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, Lewiston.
