PORTLAND – The wedding of Laura Morrison and Nicklas S. Sandberg was held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Southern Maine Community College. Betty Siegel, longtime family friend, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Sandberg is the daughter of Gail Morrison and Daniel Blanchard of Mechanic Falls and the late David Morrison. Mr. Sandberg is the son of Gunilla and Rickard Karczewski and Hakan Lindgren of Sundsvall, Sweden.
The bride, given in marriage by Daniel Blanchard, wore a white strapless A-line gown with satin draping and beaded pink metallic embroidery. She carried a bouquet of Stargazer lilies and pink roses.
Shauni Morrison, niece of the bride, was maid of honor, and master of honor was Mitchell Morrison, nephew of the bride.
Scott Cioe served as best man for his friend.
A reception was held on the picnic field at the college, after which the couple traveled to Quebec City.
The bride is a 1992 graduate of Edward Little High School, and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Maine. She also received a master’s degree in social work from Boston College. She is currently a licensed clinical social worker at Youth Alternatives-Heritage House in South Portland.
The bridegroom attended Vastermalms Technical Gymnasium in Sundsvall, Sweden, and is a 1993 graduate of Salem Community High School in Salem, Ill. He is also a 1996 graduate of Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Ill., with an associate degree in business administration, and a 1998 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill., with a bachelor’s degree in international business. He was vice president of the International Business Association in 1997-1998, a student association for international business students at Southern Illinois University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Southern Maine, and is employed at Corning Inc. in Kennebunk in information technology.
