Another Wal-Mart in Lewiston?
We don’t need it. What we need is a retail store downtown – within walking distance.
Many people in downtown Lewiston lack a car or other means of transportation. A good place for a new store – even a “mini-Wal-Mart” – would be on Lisbon Street where the four fire-gutted buildings were.
I have spoken to many people, and they all agree with me. We have plenty of banks, parking garages and office buildings downtown, but no retail store where residents could take a nice walk to shop.
A mini-Wal-Mart there, with a coffee shop, would be ideal and serve us best.
Even residents from Auburn could walk to a place like that in that location.
It’s worth thinking about.
