VFW supper

PARIS – The South Paris Veterans of Foreign Wars will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, preceded by a supper at 6. Members are asked to bring a casserole or dessert.

Guest speaker

BRYANT POND – Nancy Hohmann will be the guest speaker at the Whitman Memorial Library at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. She will speaking about the ability to communicate with animals. The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.

Rummage sale

NORWAY – A rummage sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the basement of the Second Congregational Church, Main Street. There will be new and used clothes, shoes, boots, coats and household items. There will be clothes for all age ranges, especially kids clothing. There will be 10-, 25-, 50- and 75-cent tables as well as coffee and doughnuts.

Supper/dance

LITCHFIELD – A bean supper and dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Litchfield Sportsman Club, Hallowell Road. The supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a dance from 7 to 11 p.m.

Music will be provided by Elizabeth Country Drifters and others. There will be raffles, 50/50 and a Chinese auction. The cost is $6 or $10 for both. Proceeds will benefit the band to assist in traveling expenses to Tennessee to represent the state in national finals. For more information, call Barbara at 674-5667 or Lorri at 966-2771.

Supper date

HEBRON – The Italian supper planned for Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Hebron Community Baptist Church to benefit the furnace fund, has been postponed until the following Saturday, Feb. 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The menu will consist of pizza, shells, meat and veggie lasagna, salads, garlic bread and angel food cake with strawberries, as well as beverages, at a price of $6 a person and a reduced rate for children. For details, call 966-2694.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The services at the First Universalist Church, Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St., on Sunday, Feb. 11, will be conducted by The Rev. Helen Zidowecki with help from district youth.

The youth will be at the church following a ski weekend on Friday and Saturday. Zidowecki is the youth minister for the Northeast District of the UUA. AARP speaker

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet on Monday Feb. 12, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris. Lunch will be at noon, and reservations are required by calling Audrey at 743-1643 by noon Friday, Feb. 9. Cost is $6.50. The menu will include chicken.

The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. followed by a speaker, Scott Parker, director of Oxford County Emergency Management. Members should be prepared to pay dues.

Club meeting

NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the home of Sherrie Morse. Nancy Hohmann will share information on the work she is doing with animals.
