LEWISTON – Edwin J. “Bucky” Wilson, 78, of No Name Pond Road in Sabattus, died Friday, Feb. 2, at Central Maine Medical Center, with family at his side.
He was born in Bangor on Oct. 26, 1928, a son of William and Emma (Flaherty) Wilson. He grew up in Sabattus, was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. He was a veteran of the military, having served his country in the Navy during World War II.
“Bucky” spent most of his working years as a self-employed truck driver, criss-crossing the country several times over the many years until his retirement. He was also a mechanic all his life and was regarded as a hard worker with hard working hands that could fix anything.
Among his favorite enjoyments was watching and following NASCAR, as he himself, did some car racing in his younger years, and enjoying the company of his many dogs that he owned over the years. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He leaves his wife, best friend and caregiver, Wannetta Wilson of Sabattus, whom he married in 1994, and who took such good care of him during his illness; a daughter, M. Glenda Wilson of Bowdoinham; a son, E. Rodney Wilson of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
