Profiles of four of the men being hunted by local police:
Antonio “Monk” Rembert, 30, last known address 125 Horton St., Lewiston
Rembert has an extensive criminal history in the area dating back to 1995 when he was arrested for threatening a store clerk with a lighter during a downtown robbery. In 1998, police arrested him on federal charges for brandishing a shotgun during a fight at Pleasantview Acres in Lewiston. He was sent to prison for three years, but police say he has been in more trouble since his release.
Police have been searching for Rembert on charges that he failed to show up in court to answer a charge of aggravated assault. That charge stems from a September incident during which police say Rembert stabbed a 22-year-old man several times in the chest and stomach.
The victim, Corey Hall, survived his wounds. Police say he was stabbed by Rembert during a fight inside a hallway at 15 Pleasant St. in Auburn.
Rembert was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault, was later released from jail, and has not been found by police since. He has been known to live at apartments on Bartlett, Blake and College streets in Lewiston.
Adrian Saavedra, 24, last known address 78 Bartlett St., Lewiston
In March, police in Lewiston arrested 23-year-old Adrian Saavedra and charged him with trying to solicit a 13-year-old girl over the Internet for sex.
Police were alerted to the solicitation after a woman researching Internet crime for a school project reported that a man had contacted her, looking for a teen for sex.
Police said Saavedra showed up at a Lewiston motel expecting to meet the teenager. Instead, he was greeted by police who arrested him for solicitation of a child.
Saavedra was eventually released from jail, but police said he has violated conditions of that release and have begun searching for him. Police said he was last known to be living at 78 Bartlett St. in Lewiston. He was living at 142 College St. at the time of his arrest.
Patrick Pennington, 31, last known address 119 Bartlett St., Lewiston
Pennington was recently released from prison for two dozen burglaries in which he would break in to businesses and utilize their telephones to call phone sex lines. In total he is suspected of committing 37 burglaries since 1997.
In April 2004, Pennington was featured on the front page of the Sun Journal when it showcased the Maine Most Wanted Web Site. At the time, he was wanted on a warrant for a probation violation that was more than a year old. A resident recognized his photo and reported to police that he had just been seen at the library. He was located shortly after and arrested.
Now police are again searching for Pennington on charges that he has failed to pay fines on convictions for burglary and theft of services.
Randall Rua, 20, last known address 73 Pine St., Lewiston
Rua has a criminal history of domestic assault, theft, vehicle theft, burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He served time in the local jail, but police are now searching for him on charges that he has violated probation since his release. Police also say Rua has threatened to kill a woman he was accused of assaulting in the past.
Rua is also known by the names Juan Reyes, Juan Carlos Reyes and Juan Carlos Reyes Cortez.
