DURHAM – A driver from Wiscasset escaped apparent injury Monday when his vehicle snapped a utility pole on Newell Brook Road.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department deputy Marc Caron said Bertrand Letourneau, 67, was driving north near Cedar Pond Road about 11:20 a.m. when he lost control of his Jeep on a curve. It veered to the left and snapped a Verizon telephone pole.

Damage to the 2003 Jeep Liberty was estimated at $10,000.
