LEWISTON – M. Eileen Cribb, 78, of 102 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died Friday, Feb. 2, at d’Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston on May 24, 1928, the daughter of John and Mary (McGlynn) Leahey and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was married to John W. Cribb on April 1, 1949, and he died on April 8, 1952. She was employed for five years as a switchboard operator at New England Telephone and for 35 years at Central Maine Power, until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
She loved to travel throughout the southern states, especially North Carolina. She enjoyed playing bingo, was an avid reader, liked to shop, enjoyed being at the ocean, where she grew up in Old Orchard Beach and most of all loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a well read strong individual and had passed on that strength to her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Henson, and her husband, Michael J., of Lewiston; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Jay Henson, both of Lewiston.
The family would like to thank the staff both at the Beacon Hospice and d’Youville Pavilion for taking great care of there mother and grandmother.
