NORWAY – Police say what started as a drunken argument escalated as three women acted belligerently against police outside Charlie’s Entertainment Center early Sunday morning.

Charyssa L. Wylie, 23, of Norway; Sarah M. Mason, 21, of Paris; and Heather D. Martin, 21, of West Paris, were each booked at the Oxford County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct. Wylie and Mason also were charged with violating conditions of release, and Mason was charged with obstructing government administration.

Police Sgt. James Ventresca confronted Wylie and Martin pushing each other in the middle of Main Street outside the bar. He advised them to walk away and go home, warning them of disorderly conduct. Wylie started to yell at Martin again, despite Ventresca’s threats to arrest her, the report shows.

He handcuffed Wylie, though she did not go willingly, reports show.

As Ventresca and officer Dana Wessling were arresting Wylie, Mason approached them, and Wessling pushed her away, warning her that she would be arrested.

Mason has a prior record of criminal mischief, and has appeared in court several times in recent months for unpaid fines, records show.

Wessling told her to leave or she would be arrested, and Mason told him: “then … arrest me.”

As police arrested Mason, Martin started to yell, records show. Paris police officer Nate Bowie arrived at the scene to assist, and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office deputy Chris Davis also came later.

As Ventresca headed to the jail, according to the report, Martin “started to pound on the trunk” of the cruiser. She was arrested as well.

At the jail, Wylie “became verbally assaultive to the jail staff and was placed into the holding cell. All three subjects were highly intoxicated,” the reports continued.

Martin was released on an unsecured bond. Wylie and Mason were held overnight without bail until they saw a judge on Monday, and were released later that day.
