LEWISTON – Former Madawaska resident Guy R. Gendreau, 64, whose passion for art painting is well known by many, passed away at d’Youville Pavilion on Friday, Jan. 26.
He was born on April 13, 1942, the son of Henry and Delphine (Clavette) Gendreau. In his early years, he worked as an auto body technician, a trade which he learned at a young age from his uncle, Tom Clavette.
He was an outdoors enthusiast with a love for animals and the ocean. He may be remembered for his participation along with his dog in the International Snowmobile Festival. A very social person, he loved to help others in their time of need and was very proud of his accomplishments as a volunteer. During his three years at d’Youville Pavilion, he enjoyed visiting with residents, providing laughter and smiles in any way he could. His presence will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise Chase, and husband, Corey, of Lisbon Falls and Christine Doucette, and husband, Luke, of Hampden; grandchildren, Nehemiah, Elise and Emily Chase, Olivia and Gabrielle Doucette; five sisters, Charlene Guerrette of Plainville Conn., Nancy Savoie of Wilmington Mass., Lorette Diyorio of Saugus, Mass., Judy Roy of Van Buren and Diane Plourde of Newburgh; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilman, Elmer, Euclide and Lloyd.
