FARMINGTON – Lloyd W. Davidson, 78, of Meadow Lane, Farmington, died early Friday, Feb. 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Kingfield on Dec. 9, 1928, the only child of R. Mahlon and Julia (Whitehouse) Davidson. He graduated from Kingfield High School. In 1958, he earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Farmington, then known as Farmington State Teacher’s College and a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine, Orono in 1966.
He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korea Conflict, spending three of those years in the United Kingdom, where he met and married, in 1952, Patricia Stewart Davidson of Needham Market, Suffolk, England.
On his return and following his undergraduate college education, he spent many satisfying and happy years as a high school teacher in Dexter and at Strong and Mt. Abram High schools. After his retirement from full-time teaching in 1985, he continued working in education for another 15 years as a substitute teacher and temporary administrator in various area schools.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Davidson of Farmington; an uncle, Durward Davidson of Kingfield; a sister-in-law, Heather Stewart of Mountain View, Calif.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; six uncles; and one aunt.
