LEWISTON – Local television viewers will get plenty of opportunities over the next week to watch candidates for Lewiston’s mayor state their views.

Great Falls Television is scheduled to begin airing a tape of the Jan. 30 candidates’ forum at noon today and again at 6 p.m.

The tape will air daily at noon and 6 p.m. through Feb. 14 on Great Falls Community Channel, channel 11 on Time Warner Cable, and Channel 2 on Oxford Networks.

The forum, sponsored by the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, featured all four candidates for mayor: perennial candidate Charles Soule, School Committee member Leah Poulin, city Councilor Normand Rousseau and former police Chief Larry Gilbert.

Voters will pick one of the four at a special Feb. 27 election at the Multi-Purpose Center. The ballot will also include a referendum on a bond issue to build a new Pettingill School.

The winner will complete Lionel Guay’s term, which expires at the end of 2007. They’ll be up for re-election on November’s ballot, if they choose to run again.
