FAIRFIELD (AP) – Flames swept through an Irving Big Stop service station, restaurant and truck stop on U.S. 201 on Wednesday, forcing officials to shut down the road in both directions.

There were no reports of injuries in the fire, which began shortly after 2 p.m.

Firefighters from throughout the area rushed to the scene as flames from the building shot 40 feet into the air.

Officials said the blaze was first spotted near the men’s room shower area, but there was no immediate word on what may have been the cause.
