LEWISTON – Cecile M. Dupont, age 90, a former resident of Jay, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, at Montello Manor following a long illness.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1916, in St. Methode, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Rosaire and Anais (Shink) Couture and attended local schools.

On May 31, 1943, she married Loyola J. Dupont. He passed away on April 17, 2000. She and her husband owned and operated Dupont’s Hardware Store in Jay.

She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Adams and her husband, Steve, of Westbrook; a son, Deacon Donald Dupont and his wife, Jan, of Bethlehem, Pa.; four brothers and their wives, Anthanase Couture of Jay, Placide and Jeannette Couture of Jay, Aurelien and Shirley Couture of Jay, and Gilles and Anita Couture of Livermore Falls; seven sisters, Marguerite Slovak of Livermore Falls, Blanche Bilodeau of Jay, Patricia Couture of Jay, Sister Mary Marie Martha Couture of Hudson, N.H., Muriel Desjardins and Georgette Sutton, both of Biddeford, and Grace Hodge and her husband, James, of Old Orchard; six grandchildren, Jeffery Dupont, Jared Adams, Mallory Adams, Jodi Merry, Joyce Tillson, and Julie Chicoine; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Loyola; a son, Cleo J. Dupont; two brothers, Emmanuel Couture and Toussaint Couture; and a sister, Carmel Garneau.
