PARIS – An Oxford County grand jury handed up the following indictments Thursday.
Walter Preble III, 63, of Fryeburg was indicted on two felony counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
According to the indictment, Preble was found by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in February 2006 to be trafficking marijuana. The arrest was made after a search warrant was issued.
Robert Albert Carey, 42, of Greenwood was indicted on a felony charge of criminal conspiracy, a misdemeanor charge of marijuana cultivation and criminal forfeiture of cash and firearms.
According to the indictment, Carey was found by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency to have less than 100 marijuana plants in his possession in June 2003. Police also had probable cause to believe he conspired to sell the drug.
Two firearms and $1,710 were seized from him.
Aristotelis Tsimis, 21, of Paris was indicted on felony burglary and criminal trespassing charges, and misdemeanor assault and violation of bail conditions charges.
According to previous reports, police say Tsimis broke into a Paris home and punched a man in the face Jan. 1. Police tracked him back to his home. He is being held without bail.
Jesse R. Arsenault, 20, of Peru was indicted on felony burglary and theft charges, and misdemeanor theft and criminal mischief charges.
According to previous reports, police say Arsenault broke into a Sumner convenience store and stole about $500 in food, alcohol and tobacco, and caused $200 in damage Nov. 13.
Jonathan Chase, 20, of Center Lovell was indicted on felony burglary and misdemeanor theft charges.
According to previous reports, Chase broke into a neighbor’s home Oct. 31 looking for alcohol, and caused $1,000 in damage. His mother found him passed out inside, records show.
Matthew Colby, 21, of Cornish was indicted on a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of theft.
According to previous reports, Colby was arrested after attempting to steal two firearms from a Porter residence Jan. 30.
Dale Doughty, 23, of Canton was indicted on felony burglary and theft charges, and misdemeanor theft and criminal mischief charges.
Kenneth A. Broughton, 30, of Rumford and a prisoner at the Maine Correctional Center, was indicted on two charges of trafficking in prison contraband. According to court records, on Nov. 24, 2006, Broughton did “intentionally make, obtain, or possess contraband,” namely prescription medications Zoloft, Clonazepam and Seroquel, and also tobacco. He is also charged with bringing Seroquel the next day.
