Thank you for the article on the American Hospital Association’s Foster G. McGaw community service award received by the Sisters of Charity Health System. As an employee of the health system, I can attest to the pride among our staff for our organizational commitment to serving the needs of the community, even beyond the range of medical services provided by our hospital and behavioral health programs, physician practices and long-term care facility.

An essential part of our Catholic identity and mission is the creative outreach to underserved community needs through initiatives like our food pantry, nutrition center, lots to garden and HealthSteps programs and housing efforts. We take great pride in these important community services.

The recognition of this award affirms what we who work throughout our health system know – that our organization is passionately committed to living its mission in serving the needs of our community.
